It’s Time to Tale a First Look at the BMW Concept Z4 Roadster

November 6th, 2017 by

The BMW Concept Z4 roadster has been in the automotive news lately, with the press noticing that it seems to be signaling a new direction for the company in many ways. Created in conjunction with another automaker, the Concept Z4 is, much like the recently-detailed 8-series preview, marking a defined new direction for BMW design.

The retro shark-nose propels forward, while the rest of the vehicle appears to swoop back. At first glance, the body appears to be completely angular, but that’s merely a design trick that’s enhanced by the way the hood and fender interest. In truth, there’s not one flat spot or line that doesn’t involve a subtle curve. The stand-out rounded rear features exaggerated versions of the BMW air ventricles riding below the hockey-stick taillights.

BMW hasn’t officially said what engine will power the production Z4, but the odds are that it will feature the same standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder that’s found in the current model — with a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six offered as an option. It’s likely that the vehicle will come with a six-speed manual transmission, with an available eight-speed automatic transmission.

The instrument cluster and center stack both are placed close to eye level and orient toward the driver’s seat. Other interior details on the concept vehicle are likely to be modified before the production vehicle is offered for sale, so we’re going to hold off on detailing them until we’re better informed.

Our showroom at 3025 Government Boulevard proudly serves drivers from the Mobile, New Orleans, Saraland, Fairhope and Daphne areas.
