Did You Know That BMW Delivers In-Car Digital Business Services?
Make your in-car time more productive with the integration of Microsoft Exchange and the upcoming availability of Skype for Business, as BMW looks to help you use your car as a mobile office and be effective during your commutes.
BMW is the first automaker to offer secure, in-vehicle access to your email accounts with Microsoft Exchange. This allows you to avoid the urge to pick up your smartphone while you’re driving to access and edit emails, contacts and your calendar info. You’re able to compose emails and arrange appointments using voice control, while new incoming emails and appointment changes are shown on the Control Display. You’re even able to import appointment addresses into the vehicle’s navigation system.
Starting this fall, BMW will offer the benefits of Microsoft’s Skype for Business. This unified communications solution is fully integrated into the vehicle and is operated through the iDrive system. When a Skype meeting is coming up, it’s identified on the Control Display; to take part, you just press the iDrive controller.
In a press release, Dieter May, Senior Vice President Digital Products and Services, commented, “With BMW Connected we offer a wide range of digital services designed to help users with their daily mobility needs inside and outside of the car. We seek to continuously extend and enhance the customer experience with regard to all aspects of their mobility. The integration of productivity features in-car (like Exchange and Skype for Business) and personalized and contextual services will help customers with their day-to-day work and planning while they are on the road.”
