    What Are Efficient Dynamics?

Hello everyone, my name is Fidel Garza and I'm a BMW Master Technician, Level 1 Certified and an ASE Master Technician.  I started my career with BMW as a technician in 2001, working up to my current position as Shop Foreman. Today I'm going to talk about BMW's Ultimate Driving Machine and Efficient Dynamics.

Efficient Dynamics has been a driving force in manufacturing BMW's Ultimate Driving Machine since 2006.  BMW's primary goal is to build a new model (or what BMW refers to "Chassis Engineering" ie; E90, E60, F01, F10, etc?) that will produce more horsepower, accelerate faster, have better handling and fuel efficiency, all improvements over the model's predecessors.
So how do we do it?  Well, by simply not being afraid of utilizing the latest technology in all our new models.  BMW chooses materials like magnesium in its blocks, aluminum bolts in its engines, special aluminum casting for its cylinder heads, carbon fiber roofs, and composite carbon fibers plastics among other things, to make all of its vehicles lighter through the achievement of a perfect 50/50 weight distribution.   These things alone will not get the results that BMW wanted to achieve so the company depended on the one thing that it has outshined its competition with, its engine building.  The Bavarian geniuses have been racking up trophies for the international engine of the year award in their respective displacement categories over the last decade. Using direct piezo injection, variable turbo technology ("Twin Power Turbo") , Valvetronics, Vanos, Variable intake runners, and many other ingenuities have left competitors scratching their heads.  BMW hybrids are revolutionary as well.   And yes, everybody is building hybrids now due to the strict CAFÉ standards, but BMW has taken it to the next level and squeezed more performance and fun out of the original hybrid concept. That's why we at BMW can proudly say that we build the "Ultimate Driving Machine."
In future blogs we will discuss some of the technologies I mentioned, including the new carbon fiber composite body i3 and i8 electric sport cars. Stay tuned for more exciting topics from BMW!
